History

Inception

            Department of Business Administration was started in the year 1999 with 50 students and two faculty members.

Additional Section

            An additional section of 70  students was added in the year 2015 due to the increase in demand for the course.

Recognition

           The Department secured 33rd position in All India Rankings and 4th in Chennai Rankings among the top 100 colleges of India who participated in the “India Today Neilson Survey”,2018

Objective

Department Association Activities

Enigma ‘17

The Department of Business Administration, Guru Nanak College conducted Enigma ’17, an inter-collegiate management fest on 27th September 2017. The chief guest for the event was Mr.G.Udayakumar, CEO,Core Mind.

FDP

  • All BBA faculty had taken part in a FDP programme on “Research and Andragogical skills” in our college. The resource person was Capt V.J. Pushpa Kumar, Founder Director, Indian Institute of Logistics.

Seminar

  • A seminar on “Import and Export” was delivered by Mr.Srinivasan,Managing Director, Southern Import and Export Training Centre. He presented detailed information on import and export business and highlighted the various schemes offered by government.
  • Mr.K.E.BALAJI,General Manager,CEN logistics & shipping pvt.ltd presented a lecture on “Awareness creation on Career opportunities in logistics”. Both BBA and Bcom(Hons.) attended the lecture.

Workshops

  • Orientation on “Entrepreneurship Skills” by Mr.Arul Prabhakaran,Assistant Manager,NSIC,Chennai. It created awareness to the students on ways of starting an entrepreneurial business. 
  • Prof. Dr. A. Shameem, a Certified Resource Person of Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) conducted a Financial Education Workshop in September 2017 at our College Auditorium. The workshop aimed at making students appreciate the need for financial planning and taking smart investment decisions.  
  • In the month of December’17, BBA coordinated an “International Career workshop” organized by Indian Institute of Logistics. The workshop enlightened the students on the various career opportunities and Internship programs available in Dubai, UAE. Ms. Nadia Abdul Aziz, President, National Association for Freight and Logistics (NAFL), Dubai was the Chief Guest on the occasion. She is a marketing, freight and logistics professional and has been into the family business ‘DULSCO’ which is one of the largest HR organization in the Gulf and the oldest in UAE.  She explained about the business infrastructure, policies and facilities of Dubai through a very enthralling presentation. Ms.Ramya Peter Raj, General Manager, Good Ocean Maritime, Dubai explained the procedures to be followed in order to pursue internships in Dubai.

The Director of Indian Institute of Logistics (IIL) Capt.V.J.Pushpa Kumar interacted with students and answered their queries on international career opportunities. He motivated them to take up challenging and fulfilling career international career.
