Department Of Mathematics - Shift 2

History

The Department of Mathematics was started in the year 2014 where we are handling the following allied subjects

  • Allied Mathematics
  • Mathematical Approach for Big Data
  • Business Mathematics
  • Statistical methods and their Applications
  • Business Statistics
  • Operations Research
  • Numerical and Statistical Methods
  • Analytical and logical reasoning

Mission

  • To encourage students to conduct student projects to develop their analytical and logical thinking.
  • To conduct faculty training programmes through Guest Lectures and Workshops.
  • To develop mathematical models which can be utilised for various industries.
  • To conduct outreach programmes for the socially marginalized students.

Vision

  •  To ensure “the highest quality mathematics education for every student,”
  •  To instil analytical and logical thinking among students and promote Mathematical thought as an important area of human thought
  •  To encourage the development of problem solving and reasoning skills through the use of mathematical models and multiple representations (e.g., numerical, visual, graphical,     algebraic, and verbal).
  •  To provide opportunity to demonstrate and apply skills, knowledge, and understanding in a variety of formats.

Objective

The aims of teaching and learning mathematics are to encourage and enable students to:

  • develop a positive attitude towards learning mathematics
  • enjoy mathematics and develop patience and persistence when solving problems
  • perform mathematical operations and manipulations with confidence, speed and accuracy
  • think and reason precisely, logically and critically in any given situation
  • think and reason precisely, logically and critically in any given situation
  • collect, organize, represent, analyse, interpret data and make conclusions and predictions from its results
  • acquire knowledge and skills for further education and training
  • to understand mathematics using  Modern Tools.
  • To attend Mathematics programs in  National and International level
