Department of B.Com (Marketing Management) - Shift 2

History

The Department of B.Com.(MM) was established in the Academic Year 2015 – 16 with 70 students and 4 staff members. Now the department has over 200 students and four faculties. Marketing is a primary function of organizations to ensure the needs of customers and external constituents are met.

The curriculum is carefully designed to ensure students to understand how to successfully manage the current marketing trends. This course help the students to identify and demonstrate the dynamic nature of the environment in which marketing decisions are taken and appreciate the implications for marketing strategy determination and implementation.

Mission

  • The  Department strives to generate influential contributions to marketing knowledge and communicate these to students in a way that regenerates this curiosity in a next generation of responsible citizens and marketing professionals
  • To generate practical knowledge through innovative pedagogies, for the purpose of growing businesses.
  • The Department is committed to achieve this mission by fostering a collaborative environment among scholars, students and marketing professionals in which intellectual curiosity about the behavioral aspects of marketing is a common focus.

Vision

The Department promotes excellence in business education by providing a bridge between business knowledge and practice.

Objective

The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the underlying concepts, strategies and the issues involved in the exchange of products and services.

Program Outcomes

Students proceed through the curriculum in a planned sequence that culminates with the development of a marketing plan. The programme focuses on proven practices and application of theory covering research, the nature of consumers, sales management, advertising, product management, law and ethics in the marketing environment.

Staff Achievement

Ms.Mayaleshmi.M.L,Head of theDepartment,is  a National Award winner by National Foundation of Entrepreneurship Development ,India as the Young Educator and Research Scholar for 2017  representing Tamilnadu State.

  • Ms.M.L. Mayalekshmi is Certified as Lean Practitioner by Jairus consulting services in November 2016
  • Invited as Special Guest for Women’s Day at ITM Business School, Chennai on10.03.202017.
  • Attended TCS Global meet Representing Guru Nanak College.
  • Participated in Placement Officers meet Organized by University Students Advisory Bureau(USAB),University of Madras, Chennai on 27.02.2017
  • Participated and presented in a National Professional Meet Organized by Primastic image consultancy on 11.02.2017 at Chennai.
  • Represented Guru Nanak College, Chennai ina one day conclave on the theme “Leadership For Growth “at Chennai on 03.08.2017 organized by Madras Management Association(MMA) jointly with All India Management Association(AIMA).
  • ( Invited as a Guest Speaker to  deliver a Lecture on "Personality Enrichment and Corporate Etiquette" at the renowned Hindustan University,Tamilnadu on 07.08.17

Department Association Activities

Department of marketing management is conducted a seminar on job opportunities in marketing 7th August 2017 Mrs. Deepa Rajesh, Director, AMET University was the resource person. She explained about the opportunities in various marketing sector, How to face an interview and tips to succeed in interview.
On behalf of welcoming freshers to our department, we conducted a movie spoof competition for the 1st year students on 23rd august 2017. The main objective of the activity is to familiarize the new students with the various co-curricular activities. 

We conducted  HAWKHUNT 2k17, an intra-collegiate on 20th august 2017 Mr. Raj KumarWesley CEO, Verbit Learning Solution Pvt. Ltd was the resource person. Three competitions were conducted i.e.

  1. Adzap
  2. Product packaging
  3. Sales express

In this event various departments of our college proved their talents.
