History

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

  • Department was established in the year 2003.

  • The HODs for the Department are as follows:

1.Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram, M.A., M. Phil – 2003 to 2007

2.Mr. Narasimhan, M.A., M. Phil – 2007 to 2009

3.Mr. Ramesh, M.A., M. Phil – 2009  to till date

Mission

To disseminate the system of knowledge prevailed in ancient times to the current generation.

Vision

Over the next few years, the department plans to start many new initiatives, activities and programs for the benefit of the students and development of the department.

Objective

This course objective is to educate the importance of Sanskrit and its scripts to the students.  Also to give basic knowledge in grammar to able to read, write and understand the scriptures.

Program Outcomes

After mastering the Sanskrit course students will be able to study Sanskrit texts such as Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavad Gita. Students will also be able to go deeper into Sanskrit Grammar independently or with minimum guidance. Sanskrit is an ancient language which helps one understand different kind like Yoga, Sahithya, Vedanta, Purana etc..  The basic Sanskrit course shall help anyone regardless of mother tongue and age.
