NSS and Blood Bank of Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital, Chennai, organized a Blood Donation Camp in Guru TegBahadur Auditorium at Guru Nanak College on 8th July, 2016. Dr. Umesh, Blood Bank In-charge, appreciated the overwhelming response from the students and collected around 500 units of Blood .
NSS special Camp at Somangalam Village, Kundrathur was organised on 24th to 30th September 2016.Around 150 NSS volunteers participated and Cleaned the Govt. School, Temples, Old age homes, Public toilets, constructed fencing for gardens, Planted trees in School, hostel, Govt. Hospital and public areas. They also conducted one day seminar, rallies, awareness programme on Dengue and Diarrhea.
As per the direction given by the National Foundation for Communal Harmony (An autonomous organization under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India) the NSS unit organized a Rally for Communal Harmony and National Integration on 25th November, 2016. The Rally was flagged off by the Principal Dr. M.Selvaraj. Around 400 volunteers went on the rally with placards which emphasized the importance of Communal Harmony.
NSS Units of Guru Nanak College (Autonomous) along with Primary Health Centre of Chennai Corporation organized an awareness Programme on TUBERCULOSIS on 23rd March,2017 .
Awareness among the staff and students in the college campus. Staff of Primary Health Centre conducted Villupaatu, which was the highlight of the Programme.
An awareness rally on “Road Safety” was organised on 14th March 2017, A total of 300 volunteers spread awareness on the dangers of rash driving, drunken driving, driving without license, Rules of the road, using mobile while driving, driving without seat belts, driving without helmets & wheeling.
On 29th November 2016 &1st December 2016, NSS and YRC Units of Guru Nanak College (Autonomous) along with YRG care, Centre for AIDS Research and Education jointly organized an awareness Programme, Rally on HIV/AIDS & observed WORLD AIDS DAY. Mr. S.K. Sathish Kumar, Training Manager of YRG Care sensitized the participants about the causes, remedies and preventive measures of AIDS.

“GNC – DAWNS”, the Dance club was inaugurated on 18th September 2017, to tap and nurture the dancing talents of the students.
Mr. Aari, Cine Actor and Ms. Preethy Vinod, Eminent Classical Dancer were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. The Chief Guest urged the students to actively take part in Co-curricular and Social activities in order to develop self and society.

GNC Music Club “Quaver” was inaugurated on 30th August 2017, to bring out the innate music talents of the students. The club was inaugurated by Mr. Pravin Lewis, Eminent Musician & Head – Mox Media, who explained the various nuances of music .
He was accompanied by Master Shrikanth, Super singer Title Winner , who enthralled the audience with his mesmerizing songs. Dr. GunitaArunChandhok, Director, presided over the function. Music promos performed by the students. Ms. K. R. Bindhu, Staff Advisor, Music Club highlighted the activities of the Club and proposed the Vote of Thanks.The music Club students along with the members of Mox Media performed at “The Banyan”, a rehabilitation center, on the Impact Day celebration of Deloitte on 24th November 2017.
“Installation function and Launch of Feathers”, of Rotoract Club was organised on 8th July 2016, Rtn. BabuPeram, District Governor Nominee 18-19 RI Dist.3232 was the Chief guest. He highlighted on the activities of the club to the students.
Women Students’ Forum – Shift I conducted various programmes such as Orientation Programme on 20th July, Health Awareness Programme in association with Apollo Hospitals wherein Dr. R. Vanitha Sri, Obstetrician and Gynecologist spoke on “Health issues relating to women” on 26th September, Craft Workshop on 14th October, “Personality Development Programme” along with Rexona Confidence Academy, where Ms. Rizwana, spoke on “How to face an Interview”, for the students.
The Inauguration of Women Students’ forum – ‘Shakti’(Shift II) for the academic year 2016 – 2017 was organised on 7th September 2016. Ms. AartiBagdy, Fashion Entrepreneur, Sole Proprietor AB Jewel Collezione , Curator Fashion and Jewelry, was the Chief Guest, Ms. HarleenKaurNayar, Partner, Southern Motorcycles, Chennai, was the Guest of Honour. Cultural promos by the women students has set the stage for the year long activities of the forum.
“Women Students Forum- Shakti”, in association with “India Turns Pink Foundation”, organised an event “Pinktober2016”, to create an awareness on breast cancer, with a goal to make “Breast cancer free India by 2030”, on 7th October 2016. Mr.P.A.Ananda Kumar, founder-President, Mrs.Latha A. Krishna, Pink Ambassador, Mr. Ram kumar, treasurer, India Turns Pink foundation were the Guests of Honour. They organized a signature campaign, “PINK PALM” and an extempore competition for the students on the topic “My role in making cancer free India”. To mark the significance of the event,Pink Helium Balloons were flown and all the students came in pink attire.
In commemoration of the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, an essay competition was organised on 10th Jan 2017. The topic was “Swami Vivekananda and women empowerment”. As part of Pongal celebration a rangoli competition was conducted on 11th Jan 2017 and number of students participated. On 2nd& 3rd of Feb 2017 several competitions were organised.
The women student’s forum celebrated the International Women’s Day and Valedictory function on 1st March 2017. Ms.U.Vasuki, Vice President, All India Democratic Women’s Association, was the Chief guest.. Prizes and Certificates were distributed to the women winners of various competitions.
“Shakti” and Rexona Confidence Academy organized a Programme on “Creating the right impression, in today’s corporate life” on 1st February 2017. Various competitions and Eve’s 2017, stalls Exhibition on 4th March 2017 were organised.International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March, 2017. Ms. Jeyashree Ravi, Proprietor, Sri Palam Silks, Chennai, was the Chief Guest..The students and faculty members came in green attire to support the theme “Green India” on International Women’s Day.
To Commemorate “Sikh Environment Day” the Enviro Club and Eco Sikh organised presentations and extempore competition on “Environment” for students on 4th March 2017, Plantation Drive was encouraged wherein the members and students planted saplings to promote conservation of Mother Nature.
The club also observed Sikh Environment Day on 14th March 2017. A signature campaign was organised by Madras Max events to bring awareness for a plastic free environment.
Citizen Consumer Club of Guru Nanak College was inaugurated for the academic year 2016-2017 on 27th February 2017. Mrs.Malarvizhi Udayakumar, Advocate, Madras High Court, gave inaugural address and had highlighted on rights to safety, right to information and right to choice.
Guest lecture on “Entrepreneurship and Employability” was organised on 18th July 2016, Prof. Dr. Ganesan.R. Chairman, NFED, Coimbatore, was the chief guest.
Guru Nanak College received approval from Entrepreneurship Development Institute,Chennai (EDI)to run Innovations and Entrepreneurship development programmes (IEDP).Our College is registered as a Spoke College of the Hub, Anna University during September 2016. Learn wise Classes of Wadhwani Foundation (WF NEN – 100) Programme had been regularly conducted in Smart Class rooms by ED Cell co ordinatorsDr.Gayathri Harikumar and Dr.Revathy.
76 ED Cell Students of First Year belonging to all the departments attended the classes during Jan’ 2017 to March’ 2017. They would receive certificates for successful completion of all the 9 modules from EDI.

Culturals Day “Zenith 2017” was celebrated on 25th February 2017. Both Shift I and Shift II celebrated the event together for the first time. Guru Nanak College Alumni Mr. Yogi, Mr. Raja, Mr.Alagappan, Mr.AdadeGopi, budding actors, Mr. Vicky, Event Manager, Mr. Ranjith, Choreographer were the chief guests. The NSS unit organized an orientation program for the first year NSS volunteers on 24th August 2015.The resource person was Mr. Edwin Thomson, Retd . School, Mylapore, Chennai was the Chief Guest and Dr.C.N.Eswari, Associate Prof. Head, Dept. of English, Guru Nanak College was the Guest of Honour. 150 students activelyparticipated.CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATIONS (CDA) : With a view to fostering development of the talents of the students in co-curricular activities such as debates, seminars,oratorical, essay-writing and quiz competitions as well as to encourage their histronic talents, the following Associations function in the college. The Principal shall be the ex-officio President for all the Associations and she will nominate a member of the staff each year as vice-president, for each of these associations. The student secretaries are either elected by the students of the department or nominated by the Head of the Department.NSS: The College has four units of National service scheme, the NSS envisages activities like adoption of villages, betterment of environs for the slum dwellers, conduct of adult education and health education programmes. Students of the under graduate degree classes are eligible to become members of the NSS. Blood Donation is a very special project of the NSS.NCC(Army Wing ) : The College provides NCC training to the students who are physically fit and have the inclination for the training.
