Activities - Pavit Singh Nayar Memorial Trophy

4th Edition of Pavit Singh Nayar Memorial South India Level Inter-Collegiate T-20 Cricket Tournament for Men & Women

Guru Nanak College and MOP Vaishnava College for Women Conquers

The tournament was organised by Guru Nanak College and sponsored by Hero MotoCorp Ltd. & Southern Motorcycles, was held between 2nd and 7th April, 2018. This edition of the tournament has been promoted to South India Level. . The matches were held in Guru Nanak College and in IIT-Chemplast Sanmar grounds.

This Trophy was constituted in memory of Pavit Singh, a vibrant student of Guru Nanak College with great qualities.  Apart from the Trophy, prize money of Rs.20, 000/- for winners and Rs.10, 000/- for runners separately for Men and Women was announced. Hero maestro and Hero Pleasure Scooters were announced for Man of the Series and Woman of the Series respectively. 14 Men and 5 Women Teams from various institutions of South Indian States participated.

Inauguration

          Mr. HARBHAJAN SINGH, Indian Cricketer, inaugurated and declared the tournament open on 2nd April 2018 at 08.30 a.m. in Guru Nanak College Cricket ground. The Chief Guest recollected the pleasant memories he had with Guru Nanak College cricket ground when he played the match in this ground at the age of 15 yrs.  And also he said that playing cricket in this ground is a way to getting the blessing from Guru Nanak Dev Ji.  He advised the youngsters to work hard and wished them a wonderful career. He also motivated the young players to play for the country.  He acknowledges the Guru Nanak College Management for promoting Cricket among the youngsters. Members from the Governing Council of the Guru Nanak Educational Society, officials from Southern Motorcycles and Hero MotoCorp Limited graced the occasion.

  

Valedictory

            The Valedictory was held on 7th April, 2018, 05.30 p.m. Dr.M.Selvaraj, Principal, Guru Nanak College and Member, Syndicate, University of Madras welcomed the gathering. Dr.Gunita Arun Chandhok, Director, Guru Nanak College, presented the Tournament Report and Dr.P.V.Kumaraguru, Deputy Director, Guru Nanak College, introduced the Chief Guest to the audience. The Chief Guest was Shri. Deepak M. Damor, IPS, DIG, Govt. Railway Police, Tamil Nadu.  In his valedictory address, the Chief Guest motivated the students to participate in higher level sports activities.  He wished them all the best for their bright future.Dr.P.Rajan, Asst. Prof., Guru Nanak College, proposed the vote of thanks. The dignitaries on the dais who graced the occasion were Manjit Singh Nayar, General Secretary & Correspondent, Gurmeet Singh Khanuja, Treasurer, Jasbir Singh Aneja, College Governing Council Member, officials from Hero MotoCorp Ltd. and Southern Motorcycles.

MEN’S FINAL

LOYOLA COLLEGE VS GURU NANAK COLLEGE

 Loyola college 133 All Out in 19.3 overs (Seshan Muthu: 4/34). Guru Nanak College 134/5 in 19.3 overs (Sathya: 46, Lokeshwar: 32)).Guru Nanak College won by 5 Wickets MoM: Seshan Muthu.
